Heartwood: Acorns

Fall 2024   •   Heartwood: Acorns   •   Ages 6-8   •    Wednesdays, September 11 - December 18, with breaks on the weeks of October 14--20 (for Earthskills Rendezvous) and November 25 - December 1(for Thanksgiving [13 program days total]

Heartwood is the core of our nature-connection curriculum, the trunk from which our other programs branch out.   Heartwood has been carefully crafted since 2011 to provide a progressive learning journey and comprehensive foundation in deeply relating to the natural world.  Through games, stories and exploration children learn:

Outdoor Safety and Awareness   •   Animal Tracking   •   Edible and Medicinal Wild Plants

Wilderness Survival Skills   •   Bird Language   •   Ancient Crafts

Ecology   •   Community   •   Self-Discovery, and much more

Heartwood: Acorns

Ages 6-8

Heartwood is divided into three distinct groups:  the Acorns, Saplings, and Oaks.  The Acorns group is the perfect place for your child to begin their nature-connection journey.  This introductory period is a rich and sweet time of learning and growth, lasting several years and laying the foundations for greater challenges to come(in the Saplings, then Oaks, and beyond).
